
While the month of October didn’t fall into the top ten driest of all time, precipitation totals were below the normal average of 3.14 inches. Total rainfall for the month was recorded at 1.86 inches at KTLO, Classic Hits 101.7 and The Boot, the official weather reporting station in Mountain Home for the National Weather Service. The driest October month on record was in the year 1965, when just .04 of an inch of rainfall was recorded. The wettest on record was in 1925 when 13.41 inches of rain fell.
The Twin Lakes Area last month saw seven days of precipitation with the 15th having the most at .82 of an inch.
The latest report from the U.S. Drought Monitor, published October 24th, shows the entire Twin Lakes Area under moderate drought conditions.
October didn’t set any temperature records. The warmest day last month was 89 degrees on the 15th. The hottest days ever recorded in October were on the 1st in 1938 and on the 5th of the same year at 97 degrees.
The lowest temperature of the month was 25 degrees, occurring on the 29th. The lowest temperature ever recorded for October is 18 degrees and happened on the 30th in 1917.
