
The Arkansas State Cross Country Meet was held Friday at Oaklawn Park in Hot Springs.
The Mountain Home girls ended up fourth as they were nine points shy of a runner-up trophy. Siloam Springs won the title with Russellville taking second, and Lake Hamilton was third. Individually for the Lady Bombers, Marcie Cudworth finished fifth, and Emma Martin was 12th. Josie Carson of Lake Hamilton was the individual champion.
After losing a tiebreaker to El Dorado, Mountain Home ended up in sixth place in the boys’ race. Lake Hamilton took home the team title. The Bombers were led by Whit Lawrence with a 13th place finish and Lance Lee who crossed the line in 23rd place. Jonesboro’s Damion Brown won the individual crown.
In Class 3A, Kiley Webb of Melbourne won the individual girls’ title. The Lady Bearkatz finished tied for third in the team standings with Harding Academy. Genoa Central took the team championship, and Green Forest was second.
Melbourne ended up seventh in the Class 3A boys’ race. Genoa Central was the team winner. Kolten Smith led the Bearkatz with a sixth place finish. The individual winner was Noah Eskew of Jessieville.
Salem’s boys finished fourth in the Classes 2A/1A boys’ competition with Ouachita taking the state championship. The Greyhounds’ Anthony Puerta and Darius Brown were second and third respectiviely. The individual winner was Fischer Miller of Sloan-Hendrix.
On the girls’ side, Salem was 11th in Classes 2A/1A as Quitman won the title. Allyson Walsh led the Lady Greyhounds with a 19th place finish individually. Haley Gentry of Greers Ferry West Side was the champion.
Ruthy Ryan of Harrison won the Class 5A girls’ individual crown. On the boys’ side, the Goblins were seventh as a team as Maumelle took the championship. Harrison was 11th to lead Harrison. Alex Zangara of Morritlon was the champion.
