A last-minute decision by a Mountain Home native to enter the Miss Lights of the Delta pageant last weekend in Blytheville was a crowning experience. Alexis “Lexi” Ungerank won the title Sunday.
Ungerank says she had not planned to enter the preliminary competition for Miss Arkansas.
Listen:
The 19-year-old Ungerank is a 2016 graduate of Mountain Home High School and a sophomore management major at the University of Arkansas.
While a student at MHHS, Ungerank competed in band and danced at Mountain Home School of the Arts. While she teaches dance now, it was missing the opportunity to perform on stage that led her to compete in the Miss Lights of the Delta pageant.
Listen:
In addition to winning the title of Miss Lights of the Delta, Ungerank captured the fitness and swimsuit competition and the Miss Congeniality awards.
She will compete against about 50 other young women from across the state for the title of Miss Arkansas next summer and encourages others to join the pageant system.
Listen:
Long-term, Ungerank is set to graduate a semester early in December 2019. Then she wants to travel and return to Mountain Home to open a business and give back to the community she loves.
She is the daughter of Dr. Mark Ungerank and Hazel Ungerank.
