Friday’s basketball results include Cotter winning 1 of 3 at Izard County

Cotter was able to pick up one win as they played three basketball games at Izard County’s Homecoming.
The senior girls’ game was the lone victory as the Lady Warriors defeated the Lady Cougars 76-54. Alexa Wooten led Cotter with 27 points, Hanny Garay scored 13, and Macie Clawson added 11. For Izard County, Laney Rider finished with 30 points.
Cotter did not fare as well in the senior boys’ contest as they fell to Izard County 64-51. The Cougars were led by Justus Cooper with 33 points and 12 rebounds, and Caleb Faulkner chipped in 22 points. Izard County is now 11-0 on the season and 4-0 in the 2A/1A-3.
The evening began with a junior boys’ game as Cotter lost to Izard County 40-10. Gunner Gleghorn was the Junior Cougars’ top scorer with ten points. Izard County improves to 11-0 on the year and 3-0 in district play.

Flippin’s senior girls had a rough outing at home as they were toppled by Yellville-Summit 44-25. Taylor McFarland paced the Lady Panthers with 19 points, and Cierra Lamkin had 11.

The Salem senior girls went on the road and fell to Mammoth Spring 77-68. The Lady Bears were led by Whitlee Layne with 26 points, Brianna Hocum scored 19, Stephine Henry ended up with 18, and Lauren Mitchell added ten. Mammoth Spring improves to 12-3 overall and 4-0 in the 2A/1A-3, and they’ll return to the home floor Monday for their first game in the Battle of the Border Tournament.
