A Viola woman, 55-year-old Mitzi Jones-Yancey, has been charged with two counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine and Hydrocodone, and use or possession with the purpose to use drug paraphernalia, all felony offenses.

According to the probable cause affidavit, the charges follow a home visit to Jones-Yancey’s residence by officers from the 16th Judicial District Drug Task Force, Arkansas State Police and the Department of Community Correction on November 27th.

Jones-Yancey is on active supervision, with a search waiver on file. During the course of the search, a small baggie containing a crystalline substance was located on a nightstand. On the floor nearby, officers located a glass smoking device containing a purple liquid and heavy white residue. The crystalline substance and the purple liquid field tested positive for crystal methamphetamine, as did the smoking device. Two yellow oblong pills were also located in a cigarette pouch. A brown powdery substance located in a small baggie was sent to the Arkansas State Crime Lab for identification.

Bond for Jones-Yancey was set at $10,000.
