Two Mountain View residents have been arrested in connection with a spanking incident involving a 4-year-old boy.
Stone County Sheriff Lance Bonds said Tuesday deputies from his department met with a complainant on October 14th regarding alleged injuries to his child. Sheriff Bonds says the complainant had picked up his son from the child’s mother’s residence on Main Street in Mountain View.
After picking up his son, the complainant noticed severe bruising on the child.
A joint investigation between the Stone County Sheriff’s Department and the Arkansas State Police Crimes Against Children Division led to the arrest of the mother of the child, 22-year-old Jenah Horning and her 20-year-old boyfriend, Aaron Maricle, both of Mountain View.
In a non-custodial interview with Horning and Maricle, both admitted to spanking the child prior to the investigation. At one point, Maricle allegedly said he “may have struck him” harder than intended.
Horning has been charged with a felony count of permitting abuse of a minor, while Maricle has been charged with a felony count of second degree battery.
Both are scheduled to appear in Stone County Circuit Court in January.
Horning’s bond is set at $10,000, while Maricle’s bond is set at $15,000.
