A Harrison man is facing charges after a January traffic accident led to the death of another motorist. According to the Harrison Daily Times, 46-year-old George Woodworth was arrested Friday and booked into the Boone County Jail for negligent homicide while intoxicated and reckless driving while intoxicated. Harrison Police Chief Paul Woodruff says no bond amount was set in the arrest warrant.

The crash occurred the evening of January 10th on Old Bergman Road. Chief Woodruff says 24-year-old Levi Wise of Harrison and his passenger, Brittany Lane, were traveling southbound, and Woodworth was northbound. A police report states Woodworth’s pickup truck began drifting into the other lane and hit Wise’s car in the front driver’s side bumper in the southbound lane. The impact reportedly forced Wise’s vehicle to rotate nearly 180 degrees, and it came to a rest facing northeast. Woodworth’s truck came to rest facing north. Wise was pronounced dead at the scene.

Chief Woodruff said Woodworth appeared to be intoxicated at the scene, and he allegedly admitted to drinking a few beers that evening. Woodworth also told authorities Wise’s bright lights blinded him, and he didn’t remember what happened afterward. He was transported to North Arkansas Regional Medical Center for treatment.

Chief Woodruff states a blood sample from Woodworth was sent for analysis, and when the results came back on Valentine’s Day, his blood alcohol content was allegedly over the legal limit. Woodworth reportedly tested positive for opiates and cannabanoids.
