A Harrison woman, in charge of the Bergman Booster Club, is accused of embezzling from the organization. According to Boone County Sheriff Mike Moore, 28-year-old Allison Hartoonian was booked into the Boone County Jail on a felony count of theft of property. She was released 40 minutes later on a $10,000 bond.
Hartoonian was put in charge of the Booster Club in August of last year and was responsible for concession stand sales during ballgames and sponsors for the Panthers’ athletic department over the last six months. Bergman School District Superintendent Joe Couch reportedly discovered the Booster Club’s account was insufficient and requested an investigation. A legislative audit conducted on the school’s account revealed funds in excess of $20,000 were unaccounted for. Hartoonian reportedly declined to give a statement to investigators.
Sheriff Moore says based on the amount of funds taken, the offense carries a potential sentence of three to ten years imprisonment.
