A Fulton County man, 39-year-old Jeremy David Wray of Salem has been charged with four felony offenses and three misdemeanors following what began as a report of a domestic incident.
According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to a residence March 9th along Parkway Lane in Horseshoe Bend were Wray was reported to be armed with a handgun and threatening to shoot the victim or law enforcement if approached.
Deputies contacted the victim and two teenagers as they approached the Horseshoe Bend residence.
The victim, who reportedly smelled strongly of intoxicants, had slurred speech and seemed unsteady on her feet, denied any knowledge of any kind of domestic abuse.
The victim allowed one of the officers to look inside the residence for Wray. However, the officer did not see him.
One of the teens told officers Wray had threatened the victim and choked her. They also told officers Wray had a handgun, had pointed it at the three of them and said he would kill them if they called the cops.
The victim, Angel Sutterfield, was arrested for public intoxication because she had been a passenger in a vehicle operated by an unlicensed juvenile.
While two of the officers left in search of Wray, a third learned the Salem man was indeed in the Horseshoe Bend residence when the teens went inside to retrieve Sutterfield’s medications.
As one of the teens handed the medications to the officer, she said the second teen was in the room where she had retrieved the items.
When the officer approached the room, the teen was standing by the doorway with his hands raised. As the deputy approached the bedroom, the teen stepped out of the way and told him Wray was in the bedroom with a black handgun pointed at him.
The deputy told the teens to exit the room and ordered Wray to show his hands. Wray stuck his head around the corner, saw the deputy and returned to the bedroom.
The deputy advised Wray twice to show his hands or he would shoot.
Wray again leaned out of the doorway and was advised to show his hands or the deputy would shoot him.
Wray then placed his hands out of the doorway and advised the officer he had a gun. The deputy retrieved a pistol loaded with six rounds of ammunition from Wray’s waistband.
A search of Wray’s right front pocket revealed a baggie of marijuana, yellow paper folded to contain the drug and four pieces of a green pill suspected to be Xanax.
Wray is a convicted felon and faces felony charges of possession of firearms by certain persons, two counts of terroristic threatening, and two counts of endangering the welfare of a minor, as well as misdemeanor counts of domestic battery and two counts of possession of a controlled substance, as well as being a habitual offender.
Bond was set at $21,140. Wray is set to appear in Izard County Circuit Court later this month.
