Habitual offender arrested again

A Mountain Home man, 52-year-old Daniel Luis Contreras, facing felony charges in another case, including being a habitual offender, is back in the Baxter County Detention Center on felony drug charges. According to Mountain Home Police Chief Carry Manual, Contreras is being held in the Baxter County Detention Center this time on a $1,000 bond.The arrest affidavit in the recent case notes on Friday a Mountain Home Police officer conducted a traffic stop on Contreras, who is on active probation with a search wavier on file. During the search of the vehicle Contreras was driving, the officer located two used syringes, a glass smoking pipe with residue and approximately four grams of a crystalline substance field testing positive for methamphetamine.

Manuel says Contreras has several criminal convictions dating back to 2013 including drugs, sales of drugs and weapon possession. He was arrested in February 2018 for having approximately three grams of methamphetamine in his possession.

According to online court records, he is scheduled to appear in Baxter County Circuit Court April 26th on the older charges. The newest charges against him include felony possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, felony possession of drug paraphernalia and being a habitual offender.
