New Jeff Beck documentary featuring Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton and more stars due out on DVD and Blu-ray in May

Eagle Rock EntertainmentA new documentary focusing on the life and music of British rock-guitar virtuoso Jeff Beck will be released on DVD, Blu-ray and as a digital video on May 18.

Still on the Run: The Jeff Beck Story examines the influential musician’s innovative playing and long career, including his work with The Yardbirds, various Jeff Beck Group lineups and as a solo artist, as well as his collaborations with many famous musicians. The movie also delves into Beck’s lifelong passion for classic cars.

The film features candid interviews with Beck filmed at his home and in his workshop. It also includes conversations with a variety of Jeff’s famous musical friends, collaborators and fans, among them Jimmy Page, Eric Clapton, Rod Stewart, David Gilmour, Ronnie Wood, Joe Perry, Slash and Jan Hammer.

Reflecting on what inspired him to begin playing guitar, Jeff says in the flick, “I didn’t have to think about taking up guitar, I just wanted to pour my feelings into it.”

Meanwhile, Page, who became friends with Beck as a teenager and later played with him in The Yardbirds, comments in the film, says, “He developed a style that’s unique, and that’s pretty magical.”

As previously reported, Beck will team up with Heart‘s Ann Wilson and Paul Rodgers this summer for the Stars Align Tour, which runs from a July 18 show in West Valley City, Utah, through an August 26 concert in Tampa, Florida.
