A Yellville man, 74-year-old Thomas J. Thompson, has been arrested for failure to register as a sex offender. Thompson’s incarceration is the seventh sex offender arrested in Marion County since January for failure to register.
Marion County Sheriff Clinton Evans says Thompson recently moved to the area from out of state and did not register with law enforcement, as required as a convicted sex offender.
According to court documents, Thompson was convicted in Oregon in 2002 for possession of child pornography. He was booked and processed at the Marion County Jail Friday, where he posted a $5,000 bond. Thompson is scheduled to appear in Marion County Circuit Court later this month.
