A Stone County woman was one of two recipients of the Arkansas Museums Association’s Outstanding Volunteer of the Year award. Dr. Freda Cruse Hardison of Livingston Creek was nominated for the award by the Calico Rock Museum.
Hardison has volunteered at the museum for several years providing research, assisting in building exhibits, teaching educational programs, interviewing subjects for historical projects, collecting and cataloguing artifacts, volunteering in the background at museum events and more. She is an accomplished author, historian and sociologist who also helped found the Native American Weekend. In addition, Hardison was elected to the Calico Rock Museum Foundation’s board of trustees in January.
