A Marion County man, 55-year-old George Clute of Flippin, has been arrested on felony drug charges following a traffic stop on State Highway 14, just north of the Yellville-Summit High School.
According to the probable cause affidavit, Clute was stopped March 31st after he passed an Arkansas State Police trooper who observed the front windshield of the Flippin man’s vehicle to be cracked, along with the driver’s side window to be held together by white duct tape.
Clute told the trooper someone had used his vehicle and was involved in an accident. As Clute searched in his vehicle for his insurance paperwork, he was observed trying to stick his hand between the driver’s seat and the center console. His actions lead the trooper to ask him to exit the vehicle. As he did so, Clute was observed grabbing an object with his right hand and concealing it behind his back.
Grabbing Clute by the right arm, the trooper observed him throw a small green bottle under his vehicle while saying, “It’s only a little weed.”
Searching Clute, the trooper located a marijuana smoking device in his pant pocket. A further search revealed a glass smoking device with a white crystal residue and a cigarette pack with a small clear baggie containing approximately one-half gram of a white crystal substance field testing positive for methamphetamine.
Clute has been charged with felony counts of possession of a controlled substance, methamphetamine, and possession of drug paraphernalia, along with two misdemeanor drug offenses and an equipment violation. His bond was set at $2,500.
