Genesis PublicationsRolling Stones guitarist Ronnie Wood has created a unique new limited-edition book that offers an artistic look at the songs his famous band plays in concert.
The Rolling Stones Set Lists, which will be published on October 28, features replicas of some of the hand-painted lists of songs Wood prepares for all of the band’s shows and rehearsals.
“During rehearsals, I draw up set lists on big canvases, putting down the songs and the keys they’re in,” Ronnie explains. “We hang these set lists on the rehearsal room walls so we know where we’ve been and where we’re going.”
He adds, “I illustrate the band’s set lists, sometimes Keith [Richards] and Mick [Jagger] add little doodles, and they become works of art in their own right.”
The book features set lists from nearly 100 Stones concerts and performances, handpicked by Wood and presented in chronological order. In addition to the painted lists, the volume also includes commentary and recollections penned by Ronnie.
Among the set lists appearing in the book are ones for The Stones’ 2016 concert in Havana, the group’s 50th anniversary gigs in London that included a reunion with bassist Bill Wyman, and the closed-door London studio sessions during which the band recorded its Blue & Lonesome covers album.
Two editions of The Rolling Stones Set Lists are available for pre-order. The first, subtitled Set Pieces, is limited to 1,000 copies, and is priced at 295 pounds, or $400. The book is bound in burgundy leather.
The second version, dubbed Ready Set Go!, is limited to 425 copies. It costs 695 pounds, or $940, and is bound in royal blue leather. It comes with a numbered print signed by Wood.
