
Fifteen area teams will be competing as state tournaments begin in Arkansas for baseball, softball and soccer.
The Mountain Home girls’ soccer team will go into the Class 6A State Tournament at Russellville after winning the 6A-East Conference Tournament. The Lady Bombers have a first round bye, and their first game will be Friday morning at 10:00 against either Little Rock Hall or El Dorado. Action will be at Russellville High School.
The Mountain Home boys’ soccer squad will also be in Russellville for the Class 6A State Tournament. The Bombers have a first round bye after finishing as the 6A-East runners-up. Mountain Home will play Friday afternoon at 4:00 on the campus of Arkansas Tech University against either Jacksonville or Benton.
The Harrison girls’ soccer team will not only be a participant, but they will also serve as the host team of the Class 5A State Tournament. The Lady Goblins are the champions of the 5A-West, and their first opponent will be White Hall Thursday morning at 10:00.
After a third place finish in the 6A-East Conference Tournament, Mountain Home’s baseball team head to Greenwood for the start of the Class 6A State Tournament on Thursday. The Bombers’ opening matchup with be with Russellville, the number six seed from the West. The first pitch is scheduled for 12:30.
The Class 1A State Tournament will begin Wednesday in Mountain Home with Mammoth Spring designated as the host school, but all three area teams will play their first games on Thursday. Omaha will play the winner of Wednesday’s game between Hillcrest and Ouachita Thursday morning at 10:00 on Lester White Field at Cooper Park. On Pitts Field at McClain Park, Lead Hill meets Taylor at 12:30, and Viola faces Alpena at 5:30.
The Mountain Home softball team will enter the Class 6A State Tournament in Greenwood as the fourth-seeded team from the 6A-East. The Lady Bombers will begin by taking on the number five seed out of the West from Texarkana. Gametime is set for Thursday at 3:00.
Mammoth Spring will serve as the host of the Class 1A State Softball Tournament to be held in Mountain Home, and all five area schools will play their openers Thursday. At Keller Park, Omaha will play at 10:00 against either Hillcrest or Ouachita, and Viola will be paired with Taylor at 5:30. On Freedom Field at McClain Park, Calico Rock has the 10:00 game against either South Side-Bee Branch or Acorn, Rural Special meets Woodlawn at 12:30, and Lead Hill faces Rector at 5:30.
Salem will go to Pangburn for its first game in the Class 2A State Tournament. The Lady Greyhounds take on Rector Thursday morning at 10:00.
Mountain View’s first game in the Class 3A State Tournament will be in Smackover. The Lady Yellowjackets will play Charleston Thursday at 12:30.
