Madison RecordsTony Lewis, frontman of the veteran British pop-rock group The Outfield, will step back up to the plate with his debut studio album, Out of the Darkness, due out June 29.

Lewis wrote and recorded the 12-track collection over the course of the last two years, and also produced and played all of the instruments on the album.

Out of the Darkness marks Tony’s return to music after the breakup of his band following the passing of the group’s founding guitarist John Spinks, who died of cancer in 2014.

“I spent three years away from music, thinking about whether I still had something to contribute to the music industry, but I started to miss recording and singing. I felt it was something I had to do,” explains Lewis.

As for the meaning of the record’s title, Tony adds, “It is taken from a song on the album, ‘Into the Light,’ and sums up my journey through the transition of loss and knowing that whatever happens, I am lucky to have a loving and supportive family.”

“Into the Light” will be the album’s debut single; it will be released digitally on May 18, and will be sent to radio stations the same day.

In support of Out of the Darkness, Lewis is taking part in the 2018 edition of the Retro Futura Tour, which also will feature Belinda Carlisle of The Go-Go’s, ABC, Modern English, Kajagoogoo‘s Limahl and Bow Wow Wow‘s Annabella Lwin. The trek runs from a July 11 show in Atlanta through an August 4 concert in St. Ignace, Michigan.

To promote the trek, Lewis has shot a video of himself performing The Outfield’s 1986 hit “Your Love” solo, which you can watch now on YouTube.
