Miikka Skaffari/FilmMagicWhitesnake‘s David Coverdale recently told ABC Radio that the band had completed a new studio called Flesh and Blood that he was expecting to release this year, but the singer now has revealed that the record is being delayed because of “a technical catastrophe.”
“We’ve just had a digital nightmare,” Coverdale explained to ABC Radio at an event hosted by Live Nation last week. “We’ve lost pretty much all the new album, which we were hoping to get out for May-June.”
He noted that “a technical catastrophe [occurred that’s] never happened in 45 years,” and that now the album probably won’t be released until 2019.
On how he’s feeling about the mishap, Coverdale added, jokingly, “I’ll be hitting the bar tonight. I’ll be having ‘unhappy’ hour.”
But Whitesnake will still have a number of things to promote on its upcoming Juke Box Heroes Tour with Foreigner and Jason Bonham’s Led Zeppelin Evening.
“We have a 30th anniversary [reissue of Whitesnake’s self-titled] ’87 album…that came out to much ado within six months ago,” David told ABC Radio. “And we have a live CD and DVD, [The Purple Tour (Live)], we did while I paid respects to my former group, [Deep Purple].”
The latter release, which came out in January, features performances from a 2015 show that Whitesnake played in Birmingham, U.K.
Coverdale previously revealed to ABC Radio that his band had already shot a video for one of the songs on Flesh and Blood, “”Shut Up and Kiss Me,” but it looks like fans will have to wait a bit before they see the clip.
