AURORA, Mo. (AP) A southwest Missouri woman who was shot by a police officer after she backed into another officer has died.
The Springfield News-Leader reports the father of 21-year-old Savannah Hill says she died Monday after she was shot Saturday by an Aurora police officer.
Missouri State Highway Patrol spokesman Sgt. Jason Pace says Hill was stopped because officers believed a 19-year-old man riding in her car had warrants for his arrest.
Pace says Hill put the car into reverse as officers approached and struck an officer, prompting another officer to fire at the car.
The officer suffered moderate injuries. The 19-year-old passenger was taken into custody.
Hill’s father, Chris Nethery, says his daughter was a certified nurse’s assistant who worked with veterans. She had two children, ages 3 and 5.
