
State tournament play continues Friday for area baseball and softball teams.
Mountain Home’s baseball team will resume play in the Class 6A State Tournament at Greenwood. The Bombers’ quarterfinal opponent will be Sheridan.
Mountain Home is the number three seed in the East with a record of 12-18. The Bombers defeated Russellville in its opening round game.
This will be Sheridan’s first game in the state tournament. The Yellowjackets are the second-seeded team out of the West.
The first pitch is scheduled for 12:30.
The Class 1A State Baseball Tournament will resume in Mountain Home with its quarterfinal round. On Lester White Field at Cooper Park, Armorel and Taylor get underway at noon, and Viola meets South Side-Bee Branch at 2:30. On Pitts Field at McClain Park, Hillcrest faces Midland at noon, and Kirby takes on Woodlawn at 2:30.
The Mountain Home softball squad is in Greenwood to continue action in the Class 6A State Tournament. The Lady Bombers will be paired with Sheridan in the quarterfinals.
Mountain Home is the fourth-seeded team from the East. The Lady Bombers improved to 14-15 Thursday with a shutout victory over Texarkana.
Sheridan will play their first game after receiving a bye from the opening round. The Lady Yellowjackets are the champions of the 6A-West.
The first pitch is set for 3:00.
The quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Softball Tournament will be held in Mountain Home. At Keller Park, Calico Rock gets the action started at noon against Woodlawn, and Concord plays Rector. On Freedom Field at Cooper Park, Mount Vernon-Enola and Ouachita get underway at noon, and Midland meets Taylor at 2:30.
