
The quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Baseball Tournament were held Friday at Mountain Home.
Viola watched its season come to an end on Lester White Field at Cooper Park. The Longhorns fell to South Side-Bee Branch 13-4.
Taylor will be the Hornets’ next opponent after winning the other game at Cooper Park in a 10-0 shutout of Armorel. On Pitts Field at McClain Park, Hillcrest eliminated Midland 8-2, and Woodlawn blanked Kirby 10-0.
Mountain Home was also the location for the quarterfinals of the Class 1A State Softball Tournament.
Calico Rock was bounced from the tournament at Keller Park. The Lady Pirates lost to Woodlawn by a final of 11-0.
Concord will be the the next team the Lady Bears face after shutting out Rector 10-0. On Freedom Field at McClain Park, Taylor blanked Midland 10-0, and Mount Vernon-Enola doubled up Ouachita 6-3.
