The Humphrey’s Ford Bridge, the 104-year-old bridge over the Spring River, is to be replaced.

Originally built in 1914, the Humphrey’s Ford is a low-water bridge connecting Sharp and Fulton counties. Due to its low-water structure, the bridge often floods during periods of heavy rain, causing unsafe road conditions for both drivers and pedestrians.

Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer says there is currently no start date set for construction.

The Fulton County Quorum Court has acquired $200,000 of the bridge’s $4 million total cost. The new bridge will be a high-water structure following a more direct route across the Spring River from Sharp to Fulton County.
