Judge Zimmer among Fulton County Democrats to win primary

Fulton County had five races in the 2018 preferential primary election on Tuesday, and all were on the Democratic ticket.

Incumbent Fulton County Judge Darrell Zimmer will move on to the general election with 68 percent of the votes to 32 percent for Brock Love. Judge Zimmer will go up against Republican Jim Kendrick in November.

Barry Abney will be the Fulton County treasurer when 2019 begins. Abney received 61 percent of the votes to defeat Seth Jones with 39 percent, and he will not have an opponent in the general election.

Burton Yarnell won the primary for District 3 Justice of the Peace with 71 percent of the votes beating Michael Barnett with 29 percent. Yarnell’s opponent will be Republican Gene McBride in November.

The primary victory for District 4 Justice of the Peace went to Seth Martin with 68 percent of the votes compared to 32 percent for Bill Worsham. Martin faces off against Republican Randy Wilson in the general election.

Daniel Busch will retain his position as the mayor of Salem. Busch had 76 percent of the votes to beat Jimmy McBride with 24 percent, and there will not be a race in November.
