The Twin Lakes Community Foundation presented its annual Giving Tree Grant awards at a reception honoring nonprofit grantees. Fifteen nonprofits from Baxter, Marion, Izard and Fulton counties were awarded a total of $24,000.

Recipients were Arkansas Hunters Feeding the Hungry, ASUMH Student Emergency Fund, Calico Rock Museum Foundation, Gamma House, Junior Auxiliary, Kindness Inc., North Arkansas Youth Center, Ozark Center of Hope, Serenity Inc., Twin Lakes Literacy Council, Yellville-Summit Elementary School and Single Parent Scholarship  Fundprograms in Izard, Fulton and Marion counties.

Additionally, Stop Hunger Awards were given to the Back Pack Food 4 Kids and the Food For Thought Backpack Program.

The annual funding for the Giving Tree Grants comes from the earning of the Twin Lakes Community Foundation Giving Tree Endowment. The funds are invested and generate an average of about $20,000 per year used to assist local nonprofits in their work. The endowment was established with money donated locally to enable the Community Foundation to support local projects and nonprofits without competing with them for funds.
