A legendary NASCAR driver will be in the Twin Lakes Area this week as part of a fundraiser. North Central Arkansas Speedway will host Racin’ for a Cure Thursday and Friday to benefit St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital, and Arkansas native Mark Martin will be at Friday’s event for an autograph session.

Martin is originally from Batesville, and he began his career on the dirt tracks of Arkansas. During his time in NASCAR, he won a total of 89 races on the league’s two highest levels and five championships in International Race of Champions series. Martin was inducted into the NASCAR Hall of Fame last year.

This will be the fifth edition of Racin’ for a Cure at the speedway with the previous events raising over $15,000 to benefit cancer research. Several silent auction items will be raffled off, and ride-along vehicles are planned for the event.

In addition, the feature race in the Super Stock division will pay $8,000 to the winner. North Central Arkansas Speedway is located on U.S. Highway 62 and 412 between Flippin and Yellville. For more information on Racin’ for a Cure or on the track, go online to ncaspeedway.com.
