A Flippin man, 37-year-old Robert Coleman, has been arrested on multiple charges following a short pursuit ending with a tasing.

According to the probable cause affidavit filed Friday, officers from the Flippin Police Department were alerted Coleman was in the 700 block of Park Street in Flippin and was wanted on multiple warrants. The warrants included one from Marion County for failure to register as a sex offender.

When officers approached Coleman and advised he was wanted on multiple warrants, he immediately turned and began running into the backyard of a residence along Park Street.

After ignoring commands to stop, a Taser was deployed, striking Coleman in the back.

After restraining Coleman, a loaded syringe containing suspected methamphetamine was found on the ground next to him. A small pipe with marijuana residue was found inside his pocket.

Coleman was taken to the Marion County Detention Center and charged with felony counts of possession of methamphetamine and drug paraphernalia, along with three misdemeanor offenses.

His bond was set at $5,000.

Additional online records indicate Coleman received a suspended six-year sentence for third-degree carnal abuse in Baxter County in 2001. Records indicate he later went to prison for the crime.
