Thursday, May 31st, is the last day to assess personal or business property in Arkansas to avoid a late assessment penalty of 10 percent. Arkansans must assess their property between January 1st and May 31st each year. All property in the state has to be assessed according to its value except merchant’s inventory, which is assessed at its average value during the year immediately preceding the first of January. Personal property includes items such as vehicles and boats as well as livestock.In Baxter County, residents have three ways to assess their property. Residents may call the Assessor’s Office at 870-425-3453, stop by the office at 6 East Seventh Street on the south side of the square, or assess online at baxtercountyassessor.com.
Marion County residents may assess in person at the Marion County Courthouse, by calling the Assessor’s Office at 870-449-4113, by e-mailing assessor.marioncounty@gmail.com or online at countyservice.net.
Other counties in the area also allowing residents to assess at countyservice.net include Stone, Searcy and Boone.
