
Two Mountain Home High School anglers are preparing to compete in one of The Bass Federation’s biggest events. Dawson Tunstall and Courtney Barron are scheduled to compete in the Student Angler Federation High School Fishing National Championship and World Finals beginning June 26th at Pickwick Lake in Florence, Alabama, and they are looking to raise funds for their trip.
Tunstall tells KTLO, Classic Hits and The Boot Sports he is excited for the opportunity to compete among the best amateur anglers in the world.

Tunstall and Barron competed in the Arkansas State Championship in May at Lake Dardanelle, and they finished 15th out of 92 teams. Mountain Home head coach Keith Newsom says it’s a thrill to see the time and work his two anglers have put in to succeed on the water.

The team has already raised $1,600 from local businesses, but Newsom says they have yet to reach their goal, and more sponsorship is needed.

Bomber volunteer Keith Heide says in addition to the money raised, Brad Goeke of Ultimate Auto Group donated a truck for the team’s transportation.

A pair of fundraisers are scheduled for Tunstall’s and Barron’s trip to the World Finals. The team will be seeking donations Saturday from 10:00 to 2:00 at Harps at the corner of Highway 62B and Cardinal Drive. In addition, Buffalo Wild Wings will take 30 percent of its profits raised Tuesday evening between 5:00 and 8:00 and donate it to the Bomber bass team. For more information, call 870-656-7927.
