
Arkansas’s largest amateur bass tournament returns to the Arkansas River in 2 1/2 weeks. The Big Bass Bonanza presented by Simmons Bank and produced by the Arkansas Hospitality Association is scheduled for June 29th through July 1st.
The three-day tournament will cover the river’s length from the Arkansas-Oklahoma state line to the Mississippi River. Tournament director Jill Thiel says a lot of preparation goes into the tournament.

The tournament is divided up into five pools, and each pool has a central weigh-in location. Weigh-ins will be held at Clear Creek Park in Alma, Lake Dardanelle State Park near Russellville, the North Little Rock Marina and Boat Dock on the east side of the Interstate 30 bridge, Pine Bluff Regional Park and the Pendleton Bridge located 9 1/2 miles east of Dumas on U.S. Highway 165.
Several cash prizes will awarded at the Big Bass Bonanza. Thiel says a total of at least $100,000 in prize money is guaranteed.

The tournament also includes a youth division. Thiel says this marks the second year kids will be able to participate.
