A surprise announcement was made at the end of Tuesday night’s Gassville City Council meeting. Fire Chief Christy Dewey, who has had the job for just under three months, is resigning. In her resignation letter to Gassville Mayor Jeff Braim, Dewey says she is “not happy” in her current position as fire chief. She says she is looking to return to her EMS career at Baxter Regional Medical Center in a full-time capacity. Mayor Braim says he was surprised by Dewey’s resignation, but he understands her decision.
