JONESBORO, Ark. (AP) _ Medical personnel in northeast Arkansas have vaccinated more than 230 people for hepatitis after the state’s warning that a local restaurant employee tested positive for the virus.
The Jonesboro Sun reports that 235 people received vaccinations at the
Craighead County Local Health Unit by Thursday. The unit will also hold walk-in vaccinations Friday for free.
Arkansas Health Department spokeswoman Meg Mirivel says the department issued a warning after a Jonesboro restaurant employee tested positive for hepatitis A. The agency says anyone who ate at the Steak `n Shake on June 3 between 4 p.m. and 10:30 p.m. and has never been vaccinated against the virus should seek immediate care.
Mirivel says department inspectors determined the restaurant’s food wasn’t
contaminated.
This is the fourth hepatitis incident in northeast Arkansas since February.
