A Fulton County man, 33-year-old Christopher Bowman of Salem, has been arrested by Izard County authorities for possession of a firearm by certain persons, meaning he is a convicted felon.

Izard County Sheriff Jack Yancey says Bowman was arrested June 5th, with his bond set at $5,000.

According to the probable cause affidavit, officers from the Izard County Sheriff’s Office and the Arkansas Game and Fish Commission were discussing Bowman’s arrest in February for killing two deer out of season using a rifle. A photo showed Bowman posing with the deer and a rifle.

During the investigation in the case, officers went to a residence along Foster Lane where they conducted interviews and received conflicting information. A 12-year-old boy at the home told officers Bowman had shot the deer from the corner of the residence with a gun belonging to his father. Bowman then called two men to come help him clean the deer. The boy advised the two men came to the house, picked up Bowman and the deer, and left.

Upon further investigation at the home of one of the two men, two other individuals confirmed the account of having helped Bowman clean the deer.
