Friday’s Cal Ripken results include perfect game for MH 10-year-olds

District tournament play got underway Friday for Cal Ripken baseball, and a pair of local teams dominated on the first night.

The Mountain Home ten-year-olds invoked the mercy rule after Drew Haney and Eston Ford combined for three perfect innings in their North District Tournament opener at the Equity Bank Sports Complex. The Sharks shut out Springdale 18-0 as Haney and Ford struck out all nine batters they faced. Mountain Home plays again Saturday at 9 a.m.

The Mountain Home 11-year-olds were in Springdale to get two victories in the North District Tournament.
The first game for the Fury was pool play as they shut Harrison 12-0. Mountain Home began bracket play in their second contest and beat up on Rogers 18-1.
The Fury will play again Saturday at noon as they meet Springdale.

The Mountain Home 12-year-olds had mixed results on the opening day of the North District Tournament at Springdale.
The local All-Stars began Thursday by defeating Gravette 8-3.  Their first game on Friday was a 4-3 loss to Carroll County.  Mountain Home followed with an 8-0 victory over Rogers in an elimination game.
The 12-year-olds will play another elimination game Saturday morning at 10:00.

Two Mountain Home eight-year-old teams are competing in the North District Tournament at Springdale.
The All Stars began the day by pounding Rogers Blue 15-3.  The two Mountain Home teams later faced each other as the Naturals beat the All Stars 12-1.  The All Stars wrapped up the day with an 18-15 victory over Carroll County.
The Naturals play again Saturday morning at 10:45, and the All Stars take the field at 12:30.
