
A complaint of a woman trespassing at a Salem residence has led to the arrest of the apartment resident. According to an arrest affidavit released Monday, 33-year-old Zachary Montgomery is charged with possession of a firearm by a certain person, meaning he is a convicted felon. His bond was set at $10,000.According to the probable cause affidavit, officers were dispatched to the apartment on Church Street in response to the trespassing complaint. When authorities arrived at the residence and informed Montgomery why they were there, they reportedly could smell an odor of burnt marijuana coming from inside.
Aware Montgomery was on felony probation with a search waiver on file, Montgomery was asked if anything illegal was in his apartment. He reportedly admitted he had a rifle under his bed and some marijuana. When the officers located the rifle, it was loaded. They also found multiple plastic baggies, a marijuana grinder, a marijuana smoking device and two more plastic baggies containing a green leafy substance. A hypodermic needle was also discovered in the bathroom medicine cabinet.
