Yellville city officials have announced they will participate in the Arkansas Economic Development Institute’s (AEDI) program ACCESS. The Harrison Daily Times reports, ACCESS is designed to help local communities develop economic opportunities, improve quality of life and enhance public services. AEDI’s decision to work with Yellville was based on assessments of the community’s creative capacity and cohesion.
AEDI experts will visit the city to conduct hearings and round-tables, with the first meeting scheduled for Monday evening at 5:30 in the council chambers. City stakeholders will work with AEDIs experts to study Yellvilles challenges and opportunities.
The AEDIs initial surveys will be shared with community members to distribute and send back for analysis. The city’s AEDI contact, Amy Campbell, says the insights gained from the surveys can be shocking, but the information can help people and cities make successful plans for improvement.
Campbell says the ACCESS, or Arkansas Cultural and Community Economic Strength System, process is strong because of its flexibility.
By early 2019, Yellvilles partnership with AEDI should yield a detailed action plan to help the city shape and create its future.
