LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ Police in Little Rock say a driver whose tractor-trailer collided with a train, killing a port authority worker, told investigators he did not see any lights or warning signals before the deadly collision.

The crash last Thursday killed longtime Little Rock Port Authority worker Donald Melton. The 62-year-old Melton had announced his retirement the day before.

Police say Melton and another port employee were riding in the train’s rear-most car to act as spotters before the collision occurred. Police say the collision knocked the train off the tracks and on top of Melton, who was pronounced dead at the scene.

A police report released Monday says a breath test conducted on the truck’s driver showed no sign of impairment, but that a full screening is pending.
