Longtime Arkansas Municipal League director Zimmerman dies

LITTLE ROCK, Ark. (AP) _ Longtime Arkansas Municipal League Executive Director
Don Zimmerman has died at age 75.

The league’s interim director, Mark Hayes, says Zimmerman died Sunday in hospice care as the result of cancer.

Zimmerman began working for organization that represents about 500 cities and towns in Arkansas in 1966.

Zimmerman was named executive director in 1974, a title he held until his  death. The league said in a statement that staff members are “heartbroken” over Zimmerman’s death, and it praised his dedication to helping local governments in the state.

Funeral services are pending.
