
The Cotter School Board accepted bids from Harness Roofing for replacement of roofs for the administration building and the old bus shop during its June meeting Thursday evening. In addition, the board approved a five-year lease with Apple for technology equipment.
The board was re-organized following the recent school board election. All board officers remained the same. Reneta Dewey continues as president, with Luke Walker as vice president, Jimmy Morgan as secretary, and Allen Franks as board disbursing officer.
In personnel, the board accepted the resignation of Sandy Wilhite from her position as yearbook adviser. Amanda Carter was hired as a Title I paraprofessional, and David Beard was hired as a custodian.
The Board also rescinded a motion made at the May 17th meeting and authorized Aliza Jones to submit the notice of intent for a grant opportunity for a possible FEMA shelter.
At the May 17th meeting, Tina Cole, Community and Economic Development Coordinator with the Northwest Arkansas Economic Development District in Harrison, discussed an opportunity for Cotter Public Schools to apply as an alternate for a 75 percent grant for the construction of a FEMA shelter. The board voted to proceed with the application.
Finally, the board approved two petitions for student transfers from Cotter Public Schools to Mountain Home Public Schools.
