The city council in Diamond City was able to hold a meeting last week after their previous meeting failed to have a quorum. All six alderman attended the meeting Tuesday evening with Ward 2 Alderman Jim Wisnieski serving as acting mayor and unanimously adopted a budget for 2018.
According to the Harrison Daily Times, Wiesnieski sat in the mayor’s chair following the arrest of Mayor Jan Hudson in May. Mayor Hudson faces a charge of theft of property associated with an investigation by Arkansas State Police special agents with the criminal investigation division and the Division of Legislative Audit. Hudson is accused of taking more than $4,500 from the community center. She did not attend the meeting.
In addition, another former mayor received an appointment from the council. Shari Marshall will serve on the city’s Parks and Recreation Commission.
