With the Independence Day holiday set for Wednesday, several towns and communities will have fireworks shows for residents and visitors of the Twin Lakes Area over the next couple of days. The Flippin Fire Department will continue its long tradition Tuesday with the 32nd-annual Flippin Fireworks Festival at Hickey Park.
Activities begin at noon and include the dunking booth as several prominent area leaders are scheduled to be in the hot seat. The bounce house and water slide will also be available for the youth, the fire department will provide the wall of water, the swimming pool will be open, and a patriotic ceremony will include a presentation of the flags and the singing of the Star Spangled Banner by Flippin’s own Lala Risco.
Food concessions will also be available including hot dogs, hamburgers, ice cream, snow cones, funnel cakes, barbecue and more. Arts and crafts vendors will be displayed, and Air Evac will have a helicopter from 4:00 to 6:00 pending emergency calls or weather.
The band “Shotgun Divorce” will provide entertainment from 7:00 until 9:15. The fireworks display will be the grand finale and begin at approximately 9:15.
Parking will be available in and near Hickey Park and in downtown Flippin. For anyone parking on Park Street and in the downtown area, the park will be accessible by a pedestrian bridge at the end of Second Street. Handicap parking will be available in the park. Attendees are encouraged to bring blankets and chairs for seating.
Admission is free, but the festival relies on donations from the public and corporate sponsors to stage the fireworks display. Donations will be accepted at the park during the event and at Flippin City Hall.
