A Fulton County man, 20-year-old Devon Michael White of Camp, has been sentenced to six years supervised probation in connection with a violent domestic dispute incident in Marion County last October. The dispute escalated resulting in the female requiring medical attention and the male attempting suicide by ingesting several pills and drinking bleach and other cleaning items.

The sentence came Wednesday in Marion County Circuit Court following a negotiated plea to felony charges of aggravated assault and terroristic threatening.

Under the terms of the plea agreement and statement filed Monday, White was ordered by Judge John Putman to undergo a screening for anger management, mental health and drug and alcohol abuse.

According to the arrest affidavit, a Flippin Fire Department First Responder was called to an apartment on Eighth Street in response to a female having seizures.

When the first responder arrived, she found the female, Jennifer White, lying on the ground with her husband, Devon White, holding her. The first responder noticed a small amount of blood on the wife’s lip and a few small cuts on her face. After being transported to Baxter Regional Medical Center, the first responder was advised the female had been in a domestic dispute with her husband and was concerned about the safety of their child being watched by a neighbor.

The Flippin Police Department then received a report of a suicidal male at the Eighth Street apartment who had swallowed several pills. The responding officer found White sitting outside the apartment, crying saying he wanted to end it all because his wife was leaving him. He told an officer he had ingested several pills and consumed bleach and other cleaning items. White was also transported by ambulance to BRMC.

The following day, Jennifer White told authorities the dispute began when she was at the Flippin apartment gathering items for her planned move. Her husband arrived and they began arguing, leading to a physical altercation. She alleged her husband grabbed her, placed both of his hands over her mouth and nose, preventing her from being able to breathe. She struggled, leading her husband to place her in a choke hold. While holding her, Devon White grabbed a knife and threatened to kill his wife and their child.
When Devon White began choking his wife a second time, she began having a seizure. While the affidavit does not state how a neighbor was alerted to the incident, she did call for an ambulance.
