A Lakeview woman, 44-year-old Heather Guinn, has been charged with a felony count of furnishing prohibited articles to an inmate at the North Central Unit of the Arkansas Department of Correction at Calico Rock.
According to the probable cause affidavit, DOC officials received information in March alleging Guinn, identified as a mental health worker, was providing tobacco to an inmate. In addition, Guinn was reportedly communicating with the inmate via the ADC email system using the alias Ashley Armstead.
During the course of an internal investigation, the inmate is alleged to have admitted Guinn was providing the tobacco and was in communication with him. Guinn subsequently admitted to the acts during a separate interview.
The affidavit notes the Access Corrections email system is monitored by government officials, and ADC inmates are informed personal communications can be viewed.
Guinn was arrested on June 22nd by an Izard County Sheriff’s officer. She has since posted a $20,000 bond and is set to appear in Izard County District Court later this month.
