Since 2008, Ringo — who turns 78 this Saturday — has called on fans around the world to pause at noon local time on July 7 and say “peace and love,” or share the #peaceandlove hashtag on social media. The global celebration began in 2008 at Chicago’s Hard Rock Café, and over the years has been held in Los Angeles, New York City, Nashville and Hamburg, Germany.
Hard Rock Cafe franchises in more than 50 countries will be playing a video message from the former Beatles drummer just before noon Saturday, reminding fans to say “peace and love.” Visit Facebook.com/ringostarrmusic/events to find out where various “Peace and Love” celebrations are taking place.
Starr’s also posted a video on his Facebook page commemorating the 10th anniversary of his birthday celebration, featuring clips from previous gatherings. In one clip, he declares, “I want to thank you all for joining me on my birthday. I can’t think of a better way to celebrate…or a better gift I could ask for than spreading peace and love.”
The Nice, France, event, which will be a private indoor gathering, is scheduled during an off day from the current European leg of Ringo and his All Starr Band‘s 2018 tour. The trek winds down with a July 11 show in Rome.
After a break, the All Starrs will launch a U.S. outing that begins September 1 in Tulsa, Oklahoma, and runs through a September 29 concert in Los Angeles.
