
Searcy County and the city of Marshall have received assistance for a construction project. A total of nearly $5 million in grant money will go to the East Searcy County Water Extension project.
According to the Harrison Daily Times, $3.2 million will come from the Arkansas Natural Resources Commission, and the United States Department of Agriculture (USDA) Rural Development will pitch in an additional $1,698,000. The project consists of nearly 40 1/2 miles of potable water mains, pump stations and a water storage tank.
Approximately 115 families in rural areas east of Marshall are expected to be provided with safe, reliable drinking water.
