A Carroll County man, 55-year-old Joe Brian McFarlane of Green Forest, arrested in Marion County for failure to register as a sex offender in February, has been sentenced to four years of supervised probation.
The sentence was handed down June 28th in Marion County Circuit Court following a negotiated plea. The sentencing order was filed Monday.
According to the probable cause affidavit, the Marion County Sheriff’s Office was advised in late December McFarlane was working at a local manufacturer and was not registered locally as a sex offender.
A check with Carroll County law enforcement indicated McFarlane was registered there. However, law enforcement in Carroll County was not aware McFarlane was working in Marion County. Further investigation revealed the Green County man was no longer working in Marion County, but believed to still be residing in Yellville.
No details were provided in the affidavit regarding the circumstances leading to McFarlane being required to register.
