
Christopher Brophy of Mountain Home, who is charged with a felony count of domestic battery following an incident leaving a woman bruised, bleeding and with a broken scapula, entered a not guilty plea to the charge during a session of Baxter County Circuit Court Thursday.On June 10th, a Baxter County deputy sheriff responded to a residence along Patricia Lane off Highway 5 North for a physical domestic incident.
The deputy observed the victim, identified as Shelby Chatman, with visible injuries to her face and bleeding from the mouth. The deputy also reported observing fingerprints on the woman’s neck and chest area and possibility a broken shoulder.
She told the deputy she and the 34-year-old Brophy, who had left the residence before the deputy arrived, had been fighting for two days. She said she had finally asked him to leave, but he became irate, body slammed her to the ground and began punching and kicking her. She said she was injured to the point she sought treatment in the emergency room at Baxter Regional Medical Center.
Brophy was located and arrested at a residence along Westridge Road.
During his court appearance Thursday, Brophy was ordered not to have any contact with the victim, to which he replied “no problem.” The victim in the case has taken out an order of protection against Brophy.
Brophy, who is currently free on $5,000 bond, was ordered to reappear in circuit court November 15th.
