Kevin MazurBilly Joel performed his 100th show at Madison Square Garden in New York City last night and he was joined by a very special guest to help commemorate the milestone.

Bruce Springsteen surprised the crowd by coming out on stage to perform two songs with Billy.

“Congratulations Billy on your 100th show,” Springsteen said, to loud cheers from the audience.

As Billy played the piano, Bruce sat on top and the two performed “Tenth Avenue Freeze-Out.” Then Bruce got his guitar for a performance of his song, “Born to Run.”

The two hugged after the two-song set was over.

Elsewhere in the show, Billy told the crowd he wanted to perform a special song to celebrate the 100th show milestone, and launched into “This Is the Time.”

Before the concert on Wednesday, New York Gov. Andrew Cuomo proclaimed July 18 to be Billy Joel Day. MSG honored the milestone by placing one of Billy’s Steinway pianos – along with a special plaque – on display in a plexiglass case at the arena’s main entrance.
