Brandise Daneswich; Amy GranthamJackson Browne and Graham Nash are among the well-known musicians taking part in a five-date benefit trek this October dubbed The Lantern Tour: Concerts for Migrants and Refugee Families. The acoustic shows will raise money the Women’s Refugee Commission, which advocates for immigrants and refugees seeking asylum and safety at the U.S. border.
The tour’s focus is the support of immigrant and refugee families who’ve been affected by the policies of President Trump‘s administration, which have resulted in the separation of many children from their parents.
The trek runs from an October 23 date at Nashville’s City Winery through an October 28 performance at New York City’s Town Hall. Browne will perform at the last four events, while Nash is part of the New York lineup. Country-folk great Emmylou Harris will play all five concerts. Other artists participating in the trek include Shawn Colvin, Steve Earle, Lila Downs and Mary Chapin Carpenter.
“The Women’s Refugee Commission has been on the front lines in advocating for the safety of women and children. Their work is as remarkable as it is critical, especially right now,” says Harris. “It is my honor to partner with this incredible organization and to bring my friends along for what I know will be a powerful tour.”
Tickets for the Nashville and New York City shows go on sale this Thursday, July 26, while tickets for the remaining concerts will be available the following day. Visit TheLanternTour.org for more information.
Browne is in the middle of a U.S. summer tour running through an August 4 concert in Los Angeles. He also will perform at the inaugural Dirt Farmer Festival on August 19 in Accord, New York, and at the Grand Point North festival on September 15 in Burlington, Vermont.
