Seven independent candidates in Baxter County have completed the process for council positions as of just before 4:00 Tuesday afternoon, as the filing period for those seeking to run for municipal-level offices during the November general election continues.

The county and circuit clerk’s office advised on Tuesday, Nathan Buck filed for the Cotter City Council, Harry Wright for the Salesville City Council, Bill Baze for the Big Flat City Council and Brenda Newell for the Lakeview City Council.

On Monday Mountain Home City Council incumbent Wayne Almon filed for re-election, along with Tom Alcaraz and John Brister for the Salesville City Council.

In Marion County, clerk Dawn Moffet clarified Jim Traylor is running as an incumbent for the Bull Shoals City Council and not as a candidate for mayor, as originally reported. However, James Rhoads has filed as a candidate for mayor of Bull Shoals, as well as Michael Williamson for a seat on that city’s council.

Also filing in Marion County was incumbent Penelope Osburn for the Pyatt City Council.
