Izard County golfer starts season with win

The 2018 Cougars Classic High School Golf Tournament hosted by Izard County High School wrapped up its two day run Wednesday with a member of the host team winning the girl’s individual title. Mikayla Kish shared medalist honors with Mattie Ballard of Batesville Southside but won the playoff on the first hole.

The girl’s team title went to Westside with Salem second. The Lady Greyhounds’ Anna Neal shot a 208 and Dagni Hall added a 212.

The boy’s team title was won by Pocahontas. Salem was fourth and Izard county was fifth. The Greyhounds were led by Garrett Romine who shot 189 and Remi Rush shot a 191. For the Cougars, Matthew Workman fied a 178. Viola’s Gage Harris shot 187.
